Corpoeducación is a private non- profit association created in 1995 both by public and private entities including the Ministry of Education, Fundación Corona, Fundación Compartir, DPN, University of los Andes and many others. The mission of the organization is to strengthen the quality of education in Colombia through the creation of instruments and execution of educational proposals aimed at improving the quality and access to education. Corpoeducación also has a strong research and innovation component to develop appropriate educational tools for the country.

Based on the Aceleración del Aprendizaje program, Corpoeducación designed and developed a model – “PENSAR” for leveling 6 to 9th grade students in two years. The pilot started in two schools in Facatativá in January 2008 and the objectives of the projects are: to adjust the pedagogical strategy, validate the instruments that are being used and validate the teaching materials that the teachers are using as part of the model. Since 2008 Genesis in alliance with Fundación Corona, Dividendo por Colombia and the Local Mayor’s Office are supporting this pilot and after the pilot the model will be ready to be replicated in 2009. The Secretaries of Education of Bogotá and Cundinamarca are already involved in the pilot and the project is benefiting over 100 children.
