In 2008 Genesis, teamed up with Oxy Colombia and Fundación Manuel Mejía, one of Genesis grantees and the executor of the project, to pilot a model proposed by Genesis to strengthen two agricultural schools, one in Arauca and one in Arauquita, ultimately benefiting over 1,500 children.  The model “Juventud Rural, Educación y Desarrollo Rural” developed by Manuel Mejía equips young people in rural areas with the necessary social and vocational competencies to succeed in their environments. The project not only seeks to improve the pedagogical components, it also seeks for rural and institutional development.

Oxy Colombia makes its social investment in Arauca, Arauquita and Saravena trough its local foundation El Alcaraván. It offers social and economic development programs like: Ondas (a science project from Colciencias), adult’s reading and writing program, productive projects directed to the community, inclusion of technology into local development and facilitate credits to low income families.  In order to validate the model in both agricultural schools, the team from Fundación Manuel Mejía will train a team from Fundación Alcaraván and they will become responsible for the sustainability and replication of the model.
