Fundación Dividendo por Colombia is a non-profit foundation created in 1998 by a group of private corporations with the purpose of use a matching program in order to support employee social responsibility. Nowadays, Dividendo has more than 100 affiliated corporations and 15,000 employees. Its main purpose is to collect funds and then invest them in projects that promote the improvement of quality of education in communities with great needs from Bogotá, Medellín and Cali.

 

The organization represents the Colombia chapter of the United Way International, an organization aimed at improving the quality life in vulnerable communities. Dividendo executes two main programs: school management through capacity building; and the reinforcement of basic competencies in public and private institutions.

 

Since 2007, Genesis Foundation, in alliance with the Secretary of Education from Bogotá and Corpoeducación,  have been supporting the implementation of Aceleración del Aprendizaje, which aims to help children who have dropped out of school return to school at an appropriate grade level.  Given Aceleración del Aprendizaje’s potential to be implemented on a broader scale, Genesis and Dividendo por Colombia are co-funding the development of an evaluation system that accurately monitors the impact of the model.
