Fundación Estructurar is a non- profit organization located in Bucaramanga, Colombia. Due to the high percentage of children and youngsters in Colombia who do not attend school because of the complex social and economic situations of their families, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Bucaramanga and the Construction Company Martinez Villalba created Estructurar in 1987.

Estructurar provides comprehensive education to children who do not have access to a quality education through three lines of intervention: 1) Education and Development, 2) Health and survival and 3) Community Participation. The organization offers an educational program to children from preschool to high school and also provides this service to adults who did not have the opportunity to study. Additionally, it offers workshops to children and their families to teach them how to practice good nutritional habits, improve their health conditions and how to obtain subsidized family medical assistance. Estructurar also seeks to promote community participation in all the programs that they offer, and they run an extremely successful working- child program that provides assistance to children that have been forced to work to support their families.

Genesis has supported Estructurar’s school since 2005, and in the same year it supported the construction of the Genesis preschool in Estructurar. Since then, Genesis has been supporting the operational costs of the preschool and the school. Since 2008, Genesis has been supporting the educational component of the project “Visión en Familia” (Vision in Family) designed to work with approximately 300 families in two municipalities: Bucaramanga and Piedecuesta. The Foundation established and alliance with a private school “La Presentación” in order to increase their impact by expanding its services to other communities. Genesis supports the programs “Escuela Nueva” and “Aceleración del Aprendizaje” from the educational component of the project which seeks to benefit approximately 240 children in the two municipalities.
