Policarpa Salavarrieta is a public school that was founded by a group of nuns in 1951 in Sincelejo, Sucre. The school provides an outstanding educational program for vulnerable children from preschool through high school; complemented with community programs and other comprehensive services.

Over 2000 children who live in some of the poorest areas in Sincelejo go to Policarpa Salavarrieta. Despite their limited resources, the school offers high-quality services.

Since 2004, Genesis Foundation has provided support for the construction and operation of a library and for a computer room to teach the “media técnica” in management and commerce. In 2007 over 2000 students at Policarpa Salavarrieta received health services from Patrulla Aérea Colombiana, other Genesis’ grantee, and in the same year Genesis funded a Language Lab to teach English as a second language and promote technology and communication’s skills in the teachers and students
