Hogar Infantil San José
  Location: Valle del Cauca, Colombia

Hogar Infantil San José is a non-profit organization offering early childhood education, primary healthcare, and nutritional assistance to children at risk. Since 1975, it has provided children from 11 months to six years of age in Cartago, Valle de Cauca with a safe, nurturing, structured, and fun place to go from early morning until late afternoon Mondays through Fridays while their parents or caretakers are at work or otherwise unable to care for them.

While regulated by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), the Institute is not fully responsible for full economic support of the organization. Funding has recently been reduced and consequently San José has been forced to seek outside sources of support in order to continue service provision to the young children it attends, and to guarantee through new programs the variety of resources available in the schools.

With the help of the Genesis Foundation, Hogar Infantil San José will be able increase its nutritional assistance program to provide each of the over 200 children it serves with 70% of their daily nutritional requirements. In addition, the Genesis grant will enable the organization to refurbish its kitchen as well as purchase a refrigerator, a water purification tank, a water heater, computers, and chairs.
