In a unique alliance, the Genesis Foundation, in cooperation with Fundación Corona, Fundación Promigas, Fundación Carvajal and Fundación Luker agreed upon the need to develop a complementary tool to those indicators already used in Colombia for assessing the quality of primary and middle school education. The purpose of this instrument will be to guarantee that those efforts already in progress to improve the quality of education in Colombia are measurable and can be compared year by year.

The members of the alliance chose to contract Corpoeducacón, the Center for Research and Development for Education to design and implement the pilot of an instrument that seeks not only to measure, but also to report on those factors associated with the quality of the educational process.  This instrument is intended not only to serve as a compliment to the national exams, ICFES and Saber, but in turn, to be useful in the pursuit of improving educational services offered to children in the entire country.

The Genesis Foundation strongly believes in the importance of quality education that is equitable and available to all children of Colombia, independent of their socio-economic contexts.
