Project Description

Is a playful pedagogical model that seeks to improve quality education and strengthening the thinking and reasoning processes of children. It aims at fostering and improving the learning skills of children by developing their logical thinking.

Justification

It is important that children develop their cognitive abilities in order to facilitate their learning at school. Helping them to develop their logical thinking will foster their understanding of mathematics, reading and writing. It is important to motivate them in their learning process to avoid drop-out, delay and repetition.

Methodology

Learning to Learn has 3 components.  Each component has materials that allow the program replication and appropriate development of each activity

FOR CHILDREN: Set of 16 toys and videogames that improve the reasoning, learning processes and the academic performance (mathematics, language and other areas). It also strengthens the self-esteem and citizenship competencies of children. 

 FOR TEACHERS: Set of 8 guidelines for the use of the games with children and a validated teacher’s training process.  Evaluation and follow-up system (software) that registers the performance of children while using the videogames.

FOR PARENTS: Workshops and training for using the games at home.

Implementation (2 years):

5 components: 1. Formation, 2. Follow-up teachers in the classroom and virtually, 3. Evaluation (software), 4. Materials and 5. Videogame & administration. Ten public and private schools from stratums 1 and 2 in the comunas 8, 12 and 13 in the outskirts of Medellin were chosen. All of them equipped with computers and connectivity and great need of improving quality. Cost per child/ 2 years: 92USD, cost per school/2 years= 16,500 USD.
