COMPREHENSIVENESS

From 0 to 12 years

It is the fundamental stage for children development
and to build the foundations of their lives and future learning.

Comprehensiveness

Educational interventions must comprehend all the stages of a child´s education (formal and non-formal)
to have a significant and long live impact. We do that in three stages:

In early childhood education we promote health, nutrition and protection. And have strong links with families and communities.

How?

Working areas

We support early education through a comprehensive model that fosters the development of children under 5 years of age in marginal urban and rural regions. Due to its success, our program has become one of the vehicles to implement the government’s national public policy on early education De Cero a Siempre. In this line of work we have also developed a model that seeks to find the best route to successful transit of children and their families to formal education.

We implement programs in vulnerable public schools to improve their academic quality by training teachers with innovative teaching skills, guiding curriculum changes that reflect best pedagogical practices, and providing students with up to date materials and learning tools. We also empower parents and the community to participate as responsible actors in the children’s education.

In this transverse focus, we work closely with the government and public and private institutions to positively influence and shape education policy in Colombia. In addition, we articulate our programs with public policies to ensure its relevance and potential sustainability. We evaluate and document our work generating knowledge, lessons learned and good practices available to others.
